Touchdowns and True Love: Saquon Barkley and Anna Congdon
As we speak, Saquon Barkley is capturing hearts across the nation! After his amazing performance this past Sunday, many fans are buzzing that he might just be the key to leading his team to the Super Bowl. With 118 rushing yards on just 15 carries and a jaw-dropping three touchdowns—including a spectacular 60-yard dash against the Commanders early in the game—he certainly ran his way into the highlight reel.

While everyone is fangirling over Saquon, the only person he’s swooning over is his now fiance, Anna Congdon. Their love story began when Saquon was a sophomore on the football team, and Anna was starting her journey as a KKG freshman in nursing. Although the details of their first meeting are unclear, Anna made their relationship public by posting a photo of Saquon on Instagram at a fraternity party on December 11, 2016. A few months later, on February 9, 2017, Saquon made another sweet move, putting to rest any friendship rumors with an affectionate caption: “Happy 20th to my two-six.” Recently, he announced to PEOPLE magazine that the two are engaged, adding another exciting chapter to their adorable love story. Since then, this dynamic duo has been delighting fans and sharing their journey on social media, bringing smiles to everyone!
In March 2018, Anna announced her pregnancy to the world, and their beautiful baby, Jada Clare Barkley, was born. Anna decided to put her degree on hold to care for her new baby. Just two days after Jada entered their lives, Saquon was drafted second overall by the New York Giants.
As a new player for the Giants, Saquon showcased exceptional talent. Despite facing numerous setbacks due to injuries, he significantly impacted the team. In 2019, he suffered an ankle sprain that kept him out from week three to week seven. Nevertheless, he still managed impressive statistics: 1,003 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, 52 receptions for 438 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. In 2020, he unfortunately tore his ACL, and upon returning the following season, he faced yet another ankle injury. Despite these challenges, he recorded 593 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 41 receptions for 263 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.

What initially seemed like a series of fumbles for Saquon Barkley fortunately turned into a touchdown. After struggling with injuries in previous seasons, he and Anna welcomed a new chapter in their lives in the fall of 2022 with the birth of their son, Saquon Barkley Jr., in September. This positive shift in their lives continued when Saquon earned his second Pro Bowl selection later that year.

After spending six seasons with the New York Giants, Saquon signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2024. Anna and their two children followed him to Philadelphia and were frequently spotted supporting him at his games. After Sunday’s game, Saquon remarked...
“It was fun to be out there and see the confetti and things I envision. The most special thing about it was being out there with my family.”

Fingers crossed, with even more attention on Saquon, Anna will continue to charm us with her picture-perfect end-zone family through her socials. Plus, with a wedding to plan, we’re even more excited to see all the content on their social feeds! While we hope for an exciting game, there is no doubt that come February 9, we'll all be glued to our screens, cheering for the Barkley family during the Super Bowl!
