In a World of Harrisons, be a Jalen

In this week's episode of The Sportsish Podcast, Lily discusses everything from the NBA and NHL Playoffs to the PGA Championship drama and, finally, meeting Jalen Hurts.

This week's MVP was the indomitable Simone Biles, who triumphed at the 2024 Core Hydration Gymnastics Classic. It was a historic moment as three former Olympic gold medalists competed together, and Biles emerged as the shining star, clinching the all-around title. Her floor routine, set to Taylor Swift's "...Ready For It?" was a testament to her resilience and determination. It's clear that Biles is on a personal mission, a revenge tour of sorts, as she sets her sights on the 2024 Olympic Team and another gold. Her journey is one that inspires us all. And we are ready for it?

This week's LVP (least valuable player) belongs to Scottie Scheffler, who has had a whirlwind of a spring, and everyone was expecting big things from him at the PGA Championship. Yet on day 2 of the tournament, Scheffler was arrested amidst the chaos of a tragic accident. While traveling to the course, there was a misunderstanding between Scheffler and a police officer, which resulted in Scottie being arrested. He was charged with several things and was detained for 90 minutes. After being fresh out of the slammer for 30 minutes, Scheffler was back at the golf course teeing off. After a strong start, he ended up tied for 8th, and Xander Schauffle took home the crown.

Lily also dives into the drama that was Harrison Butker this week. If you haven't heard about this already, count yourself lucky. The Kansas City Chiefs kicker gave the commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas. During the speech, Butker takes it upon himself to send a message to women everywhere, telling them their life begins when they become wives and mothers. The Benedictine Sisters also took a stand and denounced what Butker said. You can read their full comments here

Lily shares her experience attending the New York Liberty's home opener against the Indiana Fever, which turned out to be the most attended WNBA game ever. Notable figures such as Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, and others were present at the game. This experience left Lily reflecting on the events of the week with Harrison Butker, and her inspiring thoughts will make you proud to be a woman who participates in sports. To conclude the podcast episode, Lily also talked about her experience at the Philadelphia Eagles Women's Football Festival, where she interacts with Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Eagles.

Whether you're listening to hear who we will be cheering for in the playoffs or just to catch up on all the ish, this week's episode has something for everyone.
