Our Favorite Moments from the March Madness Championships
The madness is finally over, and it's time to recap our favorite moments from the women’s and men’s NCAA March Madness championship games. Now, you can find the stats, the scores, and how many three-pointers your favorite player made elsewhere- we’re here to cover the fun, Sportsish moments that caught our attention during these games.
UConn vs. South Carolina
The UConn Huskies and the South Carolina Gamecocks went head-to-head, and the Huskies came out on top– making their total NCAA championships to 12 and winning for the first time in almost 10 years. Although the Huskies took the title, we saw plenty of Sportsish moments from both teams, so let's recap.
Paige Bueckers and a Girl's Favorite Drink:
In case you missed this on the Sportsish feed, Paige Bueckers cracked open a Diet Coke after winning the National Championship, and we couldn't love it more. Andrew Gapinski, the Associate Director of Athletic Communications for the University of South Florida, reported it was her first Diet Coke in six months. How did she manage that? We have no idea, but it was well deserved after her commitment and dedication to the team and, of course, the win.
Aaliyah Edwards and her Previous Squad
Aaliyah Edwards is currently a forward for the Washington Mystics, but before that, she played for UConn during the 2023-2024 season. It was sad to see her not in the UConn Jersey anymore; however, we loved catching when she hugged her former teammates after the win.
“When you only graduated a year ago, so this is kinda your championship too.”
We were inspired to see her join the team in celebration after the win, and we appreciate her incredible sense of humor and unwavering support. Playing or not, Aaliyah showing up for her former team is something we love.

“Everyone Watches Women’s Sports”

A fan was spotted holding a “Everyone Watches Women’s Sports” sign during the championship game, and we couldn't contain our excitement. We’re all about supporting women’s sports, and let’s be honest—who wouldn’t want to watch remarkable women shine on the court?
Dawn Staley: A Supportive Coach

Although South Carolina’s Head Coach, Dawn Staley, did not wish for a loss, she remained supportive and encouraging of the opposing team after the game. In the post-game press conference, Staley stated
“Much respect to UConn. They did a masterful job in executing on both sides of the basketball.”
We know these coaches have so much respect for each other, and we love to see the support. Both teams gave it their all, and it showed throughout the game. We're incredibly proud of both teams and are excited to see them next season.
Paige Bueckers Signing Off

We have to mention our girl twice, because this moment between Paige and her head coach has been living rent-free in our heads since the game. Paige Bueckers wrapped up her last season with the UConn Huskies and finished it with a bang. She won a National Title with her team, and it was so special for her to do it in her final game as a Husky.
The hug between her and Coach Geno truly captures the moment's emotion and how we all felt watching the Huskies win. Now, she's the No. 1 pick for the 2025 WNBA draft, and we’re excited to see her shine in the big leagues.
Florida vs. Houston
The Florida Gators and Houston Cougars had a nail-biter game that kept fans on the edge of their seats! The second half was super tight until the last second when it seemed like Houston had a chance to tie it up after they missed their shot in the final seconds. Instead of a buzzer-beater, we got a heart-wrenching two-point loss for Houston. But hey, through all the ups and downs, there were some incredible and unforgettable moments that we won't forget.
Walter Clayton Jr. Supporting All Around
We can't help but swoon over a good bromance between teammates, and Walter Clayton Jr. is waving all the green flags! After the Gators snagged the National Championship, Clayton Jr. checked on the other team.
Picture this: confetti flying everywhere, and Walter, in a burst of post-game joy, bends down to check on Emmanuel Sharp. Amidst all the blue and orange confetti raining down on him, Walter put others first and kept the good vibes rolling. Who knew winning could be so heartwarming?
“Gator Boys Stay Hot”
The Florida Gators just snagged a National Championship for the first time since 2007, and it was like déjà vu in the best way! Remember back in 2007 when Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Corey Brewer, and Taurean Green went viral with their legendary phrase, “Gator boys stay hot”? Well, they clearly did because on the court after this epic win, Will Richard and the gang busted it out again!
And who showed up to celebrate? None other than former Gator Al Horford! Al posted a clip on Instagram where he and Walter Clayton Jr. shared a sweet post-game hug. Seriously, can we get a moment for these heartwarming Gator vibes?
We have loved this year's March Madness Tournament and enjoyed witnessing moments from every game. Until next March, try to keep the madness at a minimum.
