Alex “Founding Father” Cooper is bringing a new sport to this year’s Olympics: podcasting. The podcast host, influencer, and media powerhouse is set to host a “watch along” show on NBC. Alex’s show will be “interactive” for viewers and include comedians, celebrities, athletes, and more to enhance your Olympic-watching experience.

Watch With Alex Cooper will feature the women’s soccer and women’s gymnastics all-around events. Alex wants this show to be “accessible to everyone" and further demonstrate that sports truly unite us all. During her show, viewers can cheer on their home teams while simultaneously asking Alex and her guests questions through social media. These watch parties are the first of their kind and are sure to be entertaining.

When asked why they chose Alex, Molly Solomon, Executive Producer and President of NBC Olympics Production, shared, “She has attracted a fanatical audience by being unapologetically fun and original, and she has been a vocal supporter of women’s sports and female empowerment.” Anyone who has tuned into Alex’s original podcast, Call Her Daddy, knows every word of this is true. From a personal standpoint, she is hilarious and relatable. However, on a professional note, she knows who to bring in, what questions to ask, and how to entertain her guests and audience. Her vast connections in the media industry ensure her guests will not disappoint!

Another reason Alex is perfect for the role is her athletic history. She played D1 soccer at Boston University and is the daughter of a sports analyst. She also dated Noah Syndergaard, a pitcher for the MLB. Their breakup was *very* public and is still a topic that Alex discusses today, specifically to fuel other girls to leave the boys and find a man. Most recently, Alex painted the perfect picture of revenge by throwing the first pitch at the Boston Red Sox’s game, with hundreds of “Daddy Gang” members cheering her on in the stands.

NBCU also emphasized Alex’s audience when picking her. The demographic of Call Her Daddy listeners is largely younger females. These females are loyal to Alex and her brand, which could easily attract new audiences for NBCU. Alex is also set to record Call Her Daddy while in Paris, which will be even more entertaining than her usual episodes. Alex is not the only celebrity NBCU called in for the games. Kelly Clarkson, Peyton Manning, and Snoop Dog will also be in Paris to host NBCU’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony.

Picking Alex just makes sense. As Hoda of the Today Show shared, her podcast was once compared to “a female locker room talk” and is known as “an empire rooted in female empowerment.”

When Alex first started her show, it was owned by Barstool Sports. Alex realized she could do better and broke away from the brand after signing a record-breaking $60 million deal with Spotify. That was just the beginning. Since breaking away, she has launched an entire media company, Unwell. Unwell is home to various podcasts, including Hot Mess with Alix Earle. Cooper is inspiring to females everywhere by showing what you can do when you are in the driver’s seat of your life. Whether it be relationships, jobs, friendships, or “big sister” advice, Alex’s authenticity and honesty are both helpful and refreshing.

We are counting down the days until Alex is on our screens. Until then, you can listen and familiarize yourself with her success by listening to Call Her Daddy on Spotify, Apple Podcast, YouTube, and Amazon. There’s no doubt Alex will be winning the gold for media coverage at these games!
